Join Us in Changing Children’s Lives with WordPress Gives A Hand
The holiday season is here — a time for giving and making a difference. This year, we’re happy to participate in the annual WordPress Gives A Hand charity campaign for the 5th year in a row. In 2024, our donations will go to SOS Children’s Villages Latvia – an organization dedicated to providing safe homes and essential services for children in need.
What Is WordPress Gives A Hand?
WordPress Gives A Hand is a charity event where participating WordPress businesses donate a portion of their revenue collected during the last full week of the year, each to a cause closest to their hearts. This year it takes place from December 23rd to December 29th.
Over the years, the movement has brought various businesses across the WordPress ecosystem together, creating lasting, positive impact for those in need through various charitable causes.
WordPress Gives A Hand in numbers:
- Over $52,000 raised for various causes since 2020
- 29 WordPress companies participated over the years
- 19 different charities supported, ranging from environmental preservation to education and healthcare
Our Cause for 2024: SOS Children’s Villages Latvia
This year, we’re supporting SOS Children’s Villages Latvia, an organization dedicated to providing safe homes and essential services for vulnerable children.
“More than 26% of the population, almost 500,000 people, are vulnerable to poverty, while 20% of children, almost 70,000 under 18, are at risk. However, 38% of Latvian households with children report that it is difficult to make ends meet, which rises to more than 50% for single-parent households. Children living in poverty are more likely to experience a wide range of health problems, as well as face the impacts of financial and emotional strain on families.”
SOS Children’s Villages provides:
- Care for children who cannot live with their biological parents
- Educational support and emotional care for children from disadvantaged backgrounds
- Community development programs to strengthen families at risk of separation and so much more
